DIGIPACKS

A digipak is a relatively new type of packaging for CD's which folds out (sort of like a book) instead of a noraml CDcase. They are made out of cardboard unlike normal CD cases which are made out ofplastic. This is a more effective method of packaging as there is no risk of cardboard cracking in someones bag or being stepped on and ruining the CDinside however water damagecan destroy the packaging. Another positive of a digipak is that it is also cheaper and easier to make than a regular CD case.
Here is an example of a digipak.

In the digipak song names, images of the artist or band, and the record label.
This is done to promote the image of the band more with visuals of the artist or band to appeal to the audience. A booklet is normally given within the digipak giving all details and maybe a dvd version of live performances depending the artist. It also makes the buyer feel like they are getting their money's worth when buying a Digipak with extra 'goodies'

Life on the Murder Scene is the first live album by My Chemical Romance. It was released in 2006,the release includes three discs, 2 DVDs and 1 CD of the whole history documenting the band from the start to the present. Life on the Murder Scene includes two demo tracks and a previously unreleased track.

Models were used for the art cover Jamisin Matthews and Jaime Andrews portray the demolition couple in the cover photo, booklet, packaging, DVD art, and DVD menus.

This artwork of the digipak has been made to fit in with the title of the album having blood and murder shown. The three colours is a stereotype of what would be used in a 'horror' and graphic work using black and red with the contrast of white. Making the blood stand out on the images but using the black to create the dark feeling.Even the typography has been made red to stand out more with the blood on the hand. The logo however has been kept the same so the fans can clearly see with band this is, this has been done because images of the bands aren't shown so using the logo establishes the artist.
