This is the poster for Paramore's Album Riot.
The typography is in the style of scratchy writing and has been placed messy and all over the place this has been done to show that the chaos and mayhem that happened what a riot happens.
The band is also on the poster to established the actual band. They have been edited to blend in with the writing in black and white to not take the focus of the writing everywhere and maybe to show that they are included in with the riot and messy side shown. The only colour show in orange is the name of the album this is done to make the name obvious and not just a word they chose to have all over the poster. However the bands name isn't included, this could of been done as they are a popular and well know band and fans can don't need the name to know who they are.
I like the idea using the style of photo editing for my digipak perhaps. But I would include the name of our band as we aren't yet established and would be breaking into the industry. This is then taking away the norm in pop genre posters and covers as most pop bands are just normal photos of the band in a line. As our band is supposed to have a edge I want to try use this style and make it known to the audience that we are a bit different.
