Tenacious D - Tribute

Genre Characteristics

Rock and Roll style but against the stereotype of rockstars.
The artists getting into trouble.
Live Performance.
Ripping their shirt from their chest.

Lyrics and Visuals

The visuals match with the lyrics.
The song is narrative, when taken into the flashback you see the encounter with the devil when he sings about it.
He uses his fingers when counting.
When the devil appears he mimes the part while Jack Black is singing.
The song explains how they made the song.

Music and Visuals

The devil playing the guitar and the music match.
When their is a high point of the song, Jack black becomes lit up from behind making it more dramatic, like in more serious music videos.
The music stops but the vocals can still be heard when there is a shot of the booth they are in but then comes back on when back in the booth.

Notion of Looking

When they are in the booth, the audience views them as if we are the screen into of them, we can establish that when the angles changes showing a screen in front of them.
Over the head shots are used when in the flashback with the devil and the two artists. High angle looking down onto the two below when the devil and low angle view when looking up at the devil, this could of been to show who has the higher status.

Intertextual Reference

Ben stiller makes a cameo appearance.
Dave Gorhl is the devil in the videos.
Cd promoted a the end.
